Event Description:
We are proud to present a special edition of Spoken, centred around the theme ‘Food is The language of Care and Basic Human Right.’
Our one-day creative and community takeover will explore the meaning of food in our lives not just as nourishment, but as identity, tradition, struggle, joy, medicine and resistance.
Through our programme of interactive workshops, panel discussions, poetry, and community stalls, we’ll dive into how food shapes us — and how we can shape the food systems around us.
This event will offer local residents, artists, and organisers a shared space to celebrate culture, share skills, and spark critical conversations on food justice, sustainability, and creativity.
Spoken are a collective of change-makers who champion the power of creative and cultural expression as a catalyst for social action and positive change. The collective have been working tirelessly over the past year to facilitate opportunities for communities to engage with some of the biggest cultural, social and political conversations of our time. Spoken explores how we live together, it is driven by cultural exchange and uses the power of community organising and collective creativity to help generate better futures – both locally and further afield.
